Hello my name is Beth. I am 32 years old. I am a wife to the greatest man I ever met and the mother of the greatest son in the world. I have always had issues with my weight. I am at the highest weight in my life and that is 363 pounds. My BMI is 66. I have tried every diet under the sun and yeah they worked at first but then they stop ( I have a metabolism that plateaus ). I don't have any real serious complications due to my weight but I know I am not healthy and I fear that I wouldn't be around for my son and my hubby, I thought about this procedure in the past but I didn't do anything with it. Finally I decided I need to do this for me. I need this tool to help me reach my goal of living a full active life. I just started the pre op process.... I met the surgeon, then I met the team, today I did my first of 6 weigh ins with my GP. I have to lose 18 lbs in 6 months. I am nervous and scared and excited all at the same time. I live in Maryland. Anyone want to be a buddy to help me through this seeing how you have already been???
Hi Beth, my name is Teri and I am 58 years old. I had my surgery on Dec 12, 2012 and I think it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. At my heaviest I was 425 lbs and just barely able to get around. Walking was very difficult because I have arthritis in my lower back, hips, and knees. I also have high blood pressure and sleep apnea, but both are much better since the surgery. I have lost 65 lbs since my initial weigh in, 40 of them since the surgery. I think you will be as happy as I am once you have the surgery. I still have a long way to go, but I'm going to stick with my plan of getting down to 200 pounds by my 60th birthday. I am happy to be a buddy with you and we can make this journey together. I am now down to 360 pounds and adjusting to my new eating habits, but I feel much better than I have in years. Look forward to hearing from you again so we can support each other through this. I live in Georgia.

Hi Beth and welcome to OFF!
We will all be your buddy on this journey! This group has helped me tremendously over the last 2 years. I lived in a very rural area at the time of my surgery and had no local support group. OFF became my support group and I feel very blessed by the friendships I've made here. Please join in our daily thread and post with your thoughts, feelings, questions, etc. Everyone here is very supportive. We will help you any way we can.
I'm Piney from Michigan. I had a lapband four years ago at 51. Due to medical problems with it for 2.5 of the 3.5 years I had it out. I will be getting sleeved this January 22. I have lived here my whole live with my three daughters, now married with 3 SIL and four grandchildren.
We have pygmy goats, dogs, cats, fish and 8 parrots. It is a busy loud and busy here. My favorite hobbies are scrap booking and cruising.
Congratulations on your win and good luck with the sleeve. My doctor had told me that some people were having issues with the band because that s what I originally wanted. He did not recommend that I have it because I'm 58 and I have so much to lose. So far I am happy with my surgery and I'm anxious to see how much more I can lose this year. You seem to have a busy life so exercising should come naturally to you. I have not gotten back to the gym yet but I will sooo glad when I can.
